1. Drink and eat right. We often disregard how much energy we are using. This is especially true of those of us who often give our energy freely to help or heal others. Many times we will sit down exhausted after a day of energy sharing and wonder why it is we are so exhausted. It is at times like these we need to check in with our internal systems. Ask yourself, "When did I last eat", ""Have a drank enough water today?" . I find that often enough my body is demanding to be replenished.
2. Sleep. Yes, sleep.. Solid REM 8 hours of sleep. For an intuitive mind that is not an easy task. We must quiet our bodies and our minds before that sleepy bliss can take us. Meditation is a huge part of learning to do that ( see next paragraph). If you are unable to meditate try a warm bath, a cup of decaffeinated tea. Soft instrumental music without lyrics or guided mediation recordings. I also find that a long and (gasp boring) audio-book can be helpful as well.
3. Meditate.. yes the idea alone can be so daunting. Guided meditations are a great way to start and there are many available. I also suggest meditating through art, finger labyrinths, even coloring mandalas. The key is doing something to relax your mind and set aside your worldly and emotional concerns to allow your emotions and your brain some peaceful quiet healing time where it is not only unnecessary but off limits to turn the universe or solve her problems. Rumor has it she really is capable of rotating all by herself.
4. Allow your self some alone time filled with self love and spoiling of yourself. Go for a walk in the sun by yourself. Sit at the park or by some water and watch nature as the sun nourishes your body and soul by yourself. Get a Reiki treatment or a massage. Take a bubble bath with candles while listening to that soft instrumental music by yourself. Go get your hair done or paint your fingernails. Pick up a favorite hobby that you have been setting aside for far to long and nurture your inner child. I have purposely used the words "by yourself" because we all really do need to take the time to fall in love with the person in the mirror. We distract ourselves with friends, family, radio, television, society and noise. When we do this we ignore the soul inside who is longing for our undivided attention. By feeding peace and gentle healing love to your playful side, your creative side, your poetic and dreaming side, you are healing from the inside out.
There are many many other things we do to stay healthy beyond eat, drink, rest and self love. However until we take care of those top things the rest is even more daunting if not impossible. So do yourself a favor.. give yourself a huge hug. Take some deep breaths, have a glass of water or tea, and maybe a snack... if you find you skipped you last meal. Sit with your bare feet on the ground and feel the earth below you. Feel the air around you. Feel the warmth of your blood as it circulates through your body warming you. Feel the water droplets present in your saliva and swallow knowing that water is healing, Lastly feel your heart fire and the spirit with in. Acknowledge that fire and that spirit. Love it for it is you. It is the you most needing and the person in your life most deserving of your precious healing energy.
